Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
Beapnow Quizly ("Quizly", "we", "us") provides a quiz creation, sharing, and grading platform for educators, teams, and organizations. This policy describes what information we process when you use:
- Our website at quizly.beapnow.com (including admin, participant quiz pages, and related web tools)
- Our iOS / iPad app distributed through the Apple App Store (where available)
- Related services that connect to the same Quizly backend (Firebase project and accounts)
Unless we say otherwise, this Privacy Policy applies to both the web and iOS apps. Features may vary slightly by platform, but account and quiz data are designed to work across devices when you use the same sign-in method.

Who this applies to
- Instructors and administrators who sign in (web or iPad) to create quizzes, manage workspaces, and review submissions.
- Quiz participants (students, trainees, or other respondents) who open a quiz link and submit answers — typically without creating an account.
- Team and business workspace members invited to collaborate under an organization account.
- Guest users who continue without email and may later link Google, Apple, or email to the same account.
Information we collect
Instructor and admin accounts (web and iOS)
When you create or sign in to an instructor account on the website or iPad app, we collect information needed to authenticate you and operate your workspace, including:
- Email address and display name (as provided by you or your identity provider)
- Profile photo (if your sign-in provider or device supplies one, or you upload one)
- Authentication data managed by Firebase Authentication — we support sign-in with Google, Sign in with Apple, email and password, and anonymous / guest sessions. Passwords are not stored in plain text by Quizly.
- Workspace membership, role, and quiz content you create
- Usage related to plan limits (quizzes, responses, AI quiz generation)
- Billing and subscription status when you subscribe (payment card details are handled by our payment processor — see Billing below — not stored as full card numbers by Quizly)
Sign in with Apple
If you choose Sign in with Apple (web or iOS), Apple may provide us with an identifier for your Apple ID and, depending on your choices:
- Your name (often only on first authorization)
- Your email address, or an Apple private relay address (e.g.
@privaterelay.appleid.com) if you use Hide My Email
We use this information only to create and secure your Quizly account and to operate the Service. Apple’s handling of your Apple ID is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your Apple ID settings.
Guest / anonymous use
On the web, instructors may continue as guest (anonymous Firebase Auth). We associate quizzes, limits, and optional purchases with that anonymous user ID until you link Google, Apple, or email. Linking is intended to keep your work on the same account. Guests should export or link an account before clearing browser data if they want to keep access.
iOS app technical data
When you use the iPad app, we and our infrastructure providers may process technical information needed to run the app, such as device type, OS version, app version, crash or diagnostic signals (if enabled), and network requests to our Firebase backend. We do not use the iOS app to sell advertising profiles based on your quiz content.
Quiz participants — flexible by design
Quizly is built so that the amount of participant information collected can be as complete or minimal as your use case requires. Instructors and organizations control how participants interact with each quiz (whether participants open the quiz on the web or from a link shared via the iPad app).
- Minimal identification: By default, participants enter only a display name (which may be a pseudonym, first name, student ID, or any label the instructor accepts). No account, email, or password is required to take a quiz.
- Richer context when needed: Depending on how the quiz author designs the assessment, submissions may include written answers, multiple-choice selections, drawings, or other response data tied to that display name. Instructors may combine this with classroom context they already hold outside Quizly (e.g. a class roster).
- Your responsibility as the customer: If your school, employer, or jurisdiction requires consent, notice, or additional fields for participants, you are responsible for providing that to participants and collecting only what your policy allows. Quizly supplies the platform; the quiz creator decides what is asked and how submissions are used.
Participant submissions are stored so instructors can grade and review them in real time. Submission data may include the name entered, answers, timestamps, and any images or drawings attached to responses.
Quiz sharing, QR codes, and link analytics
Instructors can share quizzes via links, access codes, or printable QR codes. When a participant opens a quiz from a QR code (URL parameter ref=qr), Quizly may record a one-time quiz_qr_open event in our internal logs. This event includes the quiz identifier and optional QR token — not the participant's name. We use this to understand how quizzes are discovered and to improve sharing features. Session storage may prevent duplicate counts from the same browser session.
Export, import, and backups
Signed-in instructors may export quiz data as JSON and import quizzes from backup files (where the product provides those controls). Exported files contain quiz content you created and may include submission data depending on what you export. You are responsible for securing backup files and for any personal information they contain.
AI-assisted quiz generation
When you use AI quiz generation (web or supported app surfaces), we process the prompts and source material you provide (such as pasted text or uploaded content) to produce draft questions. This content is sent to our AI service provider as part of generating results. Do not submit sensitive personal information in AI prompts unless you have a lawful basis to do so.
Billing
Paid plans and purchases may be processed through:
- Stripe on the website (payment details handled by Stripe)
- Apple App Store in-app purchases or subscriptions, when offered in the iOS app (payment details handled by Apple)
See Stripe's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy for how those providers process payment data. We store subscription or entitlement status needed to apply plan limits on your Quizly account.
Automatically collected technical data
- Browser or app type, device characteristics, and general usage needed to deliver the service
- Theme or preference data stored locally on device (e.g. browser
localStorage) - Session identifiers used during billing flows and QR open deduplication (e.g.
sessionStorageon web) - Firebase App Check and Google reCAPTCHA v3 signals on supported web domains to help prevent abuse (see Google's Privacy Policy)
- Firebase and infrastructure logs for security, debugging, and abuse prevention (authorized platform administrators may review aggregated event logs)
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve Quizly across web and iOS (quiz building, sharing, live sync, grading)
- Authenticate instructors and enforce workspace access on every supported client
- Process subscriptions and apply plan limits
- Generate AI-assisted quizzes when you request them, using content you supply
- Measure QR and link usage at an aggregate level to improve sharing tools
- Respond to support requests submitted through our contact form and protect against misuse
We do not sell personal information. We do not use participant display names for advertising profiles.
Where data is stored
Quizly runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions) with infrastructure in the australia-southeast1 region. Quiz content, submissions, and account data reside in our Firebase project unless you export backups yourself. The same backend is used by the website and the iOS app so that your account can work across devices.
Sharing and disclosure
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us operate the platform (Firebase/Google Cloud, Stripe, Apple for App Store distribution and Sign in with Apple, AI providers when you use AI features)
- Workspace members within your organization, according to roles and permissions you configure
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
Quiz authors choose who receives participant submissions — typically instructors and graders in the same workspace.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and quiz data while your workspace is active and as needed to provide the service. Instructors may delete quizzes and submissions from the admin interface (where available). You may export a JSON backup of your data from the admin profile menu when that feature is available. Account deletion requests can be made by contacting us; some billing records may be retained as required for tax and compliance. App Store subscription cancellation is managed through your Apple ID settings when you purchased via Apple.
Security
We use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS), Firebase security rules, and role-based workspace access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use strong passwords, protect invite codes for team workspaces, and keep your device OS and app updated.
Children and education
Quizly may be used in educational settings on the web and on iPad. Instructors and institutions are responsible for complying with applicable student privacy laws (such as FERPA, COPPA, or local equivalents) and for obtaining any required parental or institutional consent before collecting participant information. The App Store age rating and any age gates in the product do not replace your obligations under education or children’s privacy laws.
Your choices
- Participants: Only submit a quiz if you agree with what the instructor is asking you to provide. Use a pseudonym if your instructor allows it.
- Instructors: Control quiz visibility, access codes, and what question types you include. Export or delete data from Admin where available.
- Account holders: Update profile details, sign out, manage Apple or Google account permissions, or request account assistance via support channels below.
- iOS: You can control app permissions in iOS Settings and stop using the app at any time. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete server-side account data — contact us for account deletion.
International users
If you access Quizly from outside Australia, your information may be processed in Australia and in countries where our service providers operate. By using Quizly, you consent to this processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Quizly after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
